CDI - LCO2 Inspection AnnouncementFollowing the launch of its innovative Liquid Carbon Dioxide (LCO2) Vessel, Inspection Program; a pioneering initiative aimed at ensuring the safe and sustainable transport of LCO2 onboard specialised ships designed to transport reclaimed liquefied carbon dioxide for carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects.
CDI is pleased to announce the completion of its first LCO2 inspection under the CDI-Marine Inspection scheme. As global efforts intensify to combat climate change, the industry is increasingly turning to carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies to reduce emissions from sectors that are slower to decarbonise. The safe and efficient transport of Liquefied CO2 by maritime vessels is a critical component of this strategy. CDI’s LCO2 inspection program sets a benchmark for vessel integrity, operational safety, and environmental stewardship in this emerging sector. Key Features of the CDI LCO2 Ship Inspection Program: • Specialised LCO2 Inspection Protocols tailored to the unique properties and handling requirements of LCO2. • Enhanced Safety Standards aligned with international regulations and industry practices. • Environmental Risk Assessments to ensure minimal ecological impact during transport. • Digital Reporting Tools for streamlined data collection and transparency. The LCO2 Ship Inspection Program is available to CDI members and stakeholders involved in the operation and chartering of specialised vessels transporting Liquefied Carbon Dioxide.
